DESIGNING FOR THE LIFE YOU WANT TO LIVe

Swedish designer Charlotte Coffey designs for the way you want to live, and who you want to be. When you’re in a space that supports your way of living, you feel nourished, protected, and balanced. Charlotte hones her homeland’s design aesthetic by focusing on natural light, contrasting texture, and quality materials.

A comforting space emerges when Interior design and architecture closely intertwine, supporting you like an old friend: this delivers the best results when developed together early on in the project. Well-functioning architecture truly sings when the materiality, shape, and colors of everything in it – the arch of the entry, chamfer of the countertop, angle of the lighting, curve of the door handle, radius of the banister, texture of the walls, depth of the windows – are part of the original plan.

The aesthetic of Lotta Coffey Design is deeply rooted in the clean and practical design philosophy of Scandinavia, where beauty is a function, and nothing is truly beautiful unless it works well. Many Americans have newly discovered the appeal of Scandinavian design, but for Charlotte it has always been part of her life. Growing up in Sweden with dark winters, she knows the importance of natural light. Summers in the Stockholm archipelago nurtured a deep appreciation of nature: it’s materials, colors, and shapes. And via her architect father, she developed an early interest for design and what happens when people live or work in a space that has been created with intention.

Charlotte was trained at the Berghs School of Communication in Stockholm, and The Academy of Art College in San Francisco. After ten years as an advertising creative on two continents with clients in the fashion and interior design industries, her move to start Lotta Coffey Design & Interiors was just the natural next step.

In her spare time, Charlotte enjoys eating, running, reading, and painting things white.
